
James A. Boevers
James Boever's practice is concentrated on civil litigation and environmental matters. In the area of civil litigation, his work focuses on complex motion practice and appeals. Mr. Boevers has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in the state and federal courts of Utah and other states, in the United States Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits, in the United States Tax and Bankruptcy Courts and before state and federal administrative agencies.
He has handled a wide variety of commercial, personal and real estate claims, as well as civil and administrative environmental issues involving asbestos, underground storage tanks, Superfund, hazardous waste and wetlands litigation.
Mr. Boevers has counseled numerous clients regarding compliance with environmental regulations and avoidance of environmental liabilities in real estate and other business transactions.
He is the co-author of a Utah Law Review article about antitrust issues as they relate to the ski industry. ("Antitrust Issues Facing the Ski Resort Industry: The Company Town Revisited, Vol. 1985-4, Utah Law Review.")
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Mr. Boevers received a B.A. degree with honors in 1973 from the University of Wyoming. He attended the University of Utah College of Law, earning his law degree and admission to the Utah State Bar in 1976.
Prior to joining Prince Yeates in 1980, Mr. Boevers practiced law in the Salt Lake area from 1976 to 1978. From 1977 to 1979, he served as an adjunct professor in the Freshman Legal Writing Program at the University of Utah College of Law. Mr. Boevers was law clerk to the Honorable Bruce Jenkins, United States District Court for Utah, from 1978 to 1980.
